Positional Notation

A value represented in a positional notation will use a small set of symbols (digits) and order them in a sequence that gives more weight to some positions over others. For example, 10000 is many times larger than 00010 because of the position of the 1.

Contrast this with the BynaseProtocol which weights two symbols, hi & lo, by the frequency at which they are sent.
